Tracking the Candidates

Nov. 6, 2018
On the road against the No. 3 team in the country, in arguably the most hostile road environment in college football, Nick Saban's squad rolled to victory. It wasn't the final score that was most impressive, though. It was how Tua Tagovailoa shook off his first interception of the season to throw for 295 yards and three touchdowns. -- Alex Scarborough

Oklahoma exhibited an ability to both trade and survive big blows, figuratively and literally, in a deceivingly physical win at Texas Tech. That effort started and ended with Murray, who bounced back from a pair of early interceptions that led to a Tech 14-0 lead. Never rattled, he accounted for four touchdowns for the seventh time this season. -- Ryan McGee

With time running out, Grier produced a pair of Heisman moments -- a perfect 33-yard TD pass with 16 seconds remaining, then a two-point conversion run off a draw -- to lift the Mountaineers to the dramatic comeback victory at Texas. -- Jake Trotter

Minshew is on track to become the first Heisman finalist from Washington State since Ryan Leaf in 1997, and the Cougars remain in contention for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Minshew struggled dealing with the wind in the first half in Boulder but still finished with 335 yards passing in arguably the Cougars' most complete win of conference play. -- Kyle Bonagura
